Southwark Law Centre provides specialist advice and representation to workers facing problems at work, with a particular focus on discrimination, unfair treatment and cases affecting people on low incomes.

We understand that losing a job, experiencing discrimination, or being treated unfairly at work can have a devastating impact on your finances, health and wellbeing. Our team can help you understand your rights and, where appropriate, take action to enforce them.

Cases We Are Unlikely to Take On

Due to limited funding and resources, we are not usually able to assist with:

  • Straightforward unpaid wages or holiday pay claims
  • Simple breach of contract claims
  • Cases where the individual already has representation through a trade union
  • Matters outside our areas of expertise or funding

If we cannot assist, we will try to signpost you to other sources of support where possible.

Legal Aid and Funding

There is very limited Legal Aid available for employment matters. Most employment cases are not covered by Legal Aid.

Our employment service is funded through a combination of Legal Aid, grants and local authority funding, allowing us to support people who might otherwise be unable to access legal advice.
